In December 2014 Hauschka aka Volker Bertelmann and me met at his studio in Düssedorf.
I´ve played some of my ideas to him, we´ve made a short decision and recorded all the material for „Meins sollte meins sein“ during one afternoon. He opened the magic Hauschka – Soundbox and created a wonderful soundscape for our song. What I most love in his music is, that he found absolute freedom in focusing on his very special soundscape – the prepaired piano. An open field of experimentation. combined with his distinctive way of playing piano it´s just a perfect combination.
I know Volker Bertlemann since 1991. We met in a short course for popmusic at the music highschool in Hamburg. Since then we never lost track of each other.
The lyrics were born out of my very personal NSA-crisis, dedicated to the hero of our times – Edward Snowden.
